Compare the specification before choosing a seller
Compare photo fridge magnets on their finished dimensions, backing, print finish, and order terms. Published specifications help narrow the options, but they do not prove which print looks best or which magnet holds most on your door. Check a sample where possible and keep missing measurements visible in the comparison.
Where these figures come from
This comparison uses published product specifications. We have not handled or measured these products. Prices and availability can change; check the seller's listing before ordering. Method, equipment, and limits are on the how we test page.

A set of photo fridge magnets needs room for the pictures inside the outlines and for the finished magnets on the door. Start there before comparing a seller's price. A low price for a shape that cuts a face out of the photograph, or a pack that leaves half its contents in a drawer, can be the wrong order.
This page compares the details you can establish from a listing with the checks that need a sample. Fresh Magnets' prepared storefront catalogue was checked on September 30, 2026, while its public site showed a coming-soon page. Shutterfly and Vistaprint are included as sellers to check, rather than as products with verified dimensions or prices in this record.
Match the finished shape to the space
Fresh Magnets' photo magnet collection contains five prepared sizes: 2 inch and 2.5 inch squares, a 2 x 3 inch rectangle, and 2.25 inch and 3 inch rounds. The square, round, and rectangular choices give you different boundaries around the picture. A round outline can have the same maximum width as a square while removing the corners of the image. Check where every face, hand, or line of text falls in the seller's actual crop preview.
Two dimensions can be involved in one size label. The outside measurement determines whether magnets fit beside each other. The visible print area determines what remains of the picture after a rim, border, or wrapped edge takes its share. Ask which dimension the listing gives. For a close arrangement, use confirmed finished measurements rather than treating a rounded metric label as an exact cut size.
For example, seven magnets measuring 2.5 inches across, separated by quarter-inch gaps, occupy 19 inches. The magnets account for 17.5 inches and the six gaps account for 1.5 inches. On a 20 inch wide area, that leaves 1 inch unused. If centered, the outside margin is half an inch at each end. Eight of those magnets need 21.75 inches, so adding one changes the row substantially.
Those figures describe a hypothetical arrangement, using 2.5 inches as the finished width. They do not certify a seller's dimensions. The layout planner lets you repeat the calculation with the available area on your own fridge. Measure around handles and dispensers, and reserve room for the shopping list if that area already has a job. A rectangular door does not necessarily provide one uninterrupted rectangle for photographs.
If two listings use inches and millimeters differently, the measurement guide helps separate exact conversions from rounded catalogue sizes. Keep the finished size in the comparison even when the photographs on the product pages make both magnets look equally large.
Look behind the photograph
A picture on the front establishes very little about the back. Photo magnets can use flexible magnetic sheet, a rigid pressed shell, or a print attached to another backing. The word custom describes the design supplied by the buyer. Custom fridge magnets still need a separate construction description.
The Fresh Magnets Custom Photo Magnets description says the photo is pressed into a rigid shell under a protective finish. It also describes a magnet covering nearly the whole back. That gives you questions to ask about a sample, such as whether the finished assembly rests flat and whether its edges are smooth. It does not establish the exact magnetic material, an overall thickness, or a pull-force measurement. Those details have not been verified here.
For any seller, inspect an edge view and an underside view if the listing provides them. A front photograph may hide the backing completely. Ask whether a thickness figure includes the print, protective layer, and raised rim. A magnetic-sheet thickness and a complete-shell thickness describe different measurements, even if both appear under a heading called thickness.
| Detail | Useful listing information | Useful sample check |
|---|---|---|
| Outline | Finished dimensions and tolerances | Measure outside edges or diameter |
| Backing | Material, coverage, and attachment | Check contact, rough edges, and rocking |
| Picture | Print process, finish, and crop template | Compare faces, fine detail, and margins |
| Thickness | What the stated measurement includes | Measure the whole assembly for packing |
| Holding | Rating with its surface and test method | Try the intended load on your door |
The photo magnet construction guide shows why those checks belong in separate rows. A stiff shell can change how a magnet feels in the hand. A protective finish covers the print. Neither supplies a tested strength or a number of years before the image fades.
Calculate the order you will actually use
Pack size can change the cost comparison before shipping enters it. Fresh Magnets' prepared catalogue includes packs of 6, 9, 12, 15, 25, 50, 100, and 200 for the square and rectangular products and the smaller round. The 3 inch round also has a four-pack choice. Confirm the options on the selected product page when ordering opens.
Write down how many magnets you need before comparing those options with another seller. If you need ten, a nine-pack is short and a twelve-pack leaves two extras. Buying two six-packs also supplies twelve, but the total could differ from one twelve-pack. Compare those complete totals. A listed minimum tells you the smallest order a seller accepts; it does not tell you which pack combination costs least for your quantity.
Suppose one quote delivers twelve magnets for $36 including delivery, and another delivers fifteen for $39. These are invented prices for arithmetic, not Fresh Magnets, Shutterfly, or Vistaprint prices. The first quote is $3 per delivered magnet. The second is $2.60. If you need ten and will discard the extras, the first still costs $3 less overall. If all fifteen have a use, the second calculation describes a different purchase.
Check design allowances as well. A pack of identical images and a pack containing a different photograph on each magnet are different orders. Fresh Magnets' checked Custom Photo Magnets description says every magnet in a set can carry a different photo at no extra cost. Ask the same question for the exact competing product, rather than assuming the pack count answers it. Keep any proof or crop approval with the order record so the selected images and their positions are clear.
Shipping charges, tax, and any setup charge belong in the total payable. The delivered-cost guide includes a worksheet for comparing needed quantity with delivered quantity. Avoid comparing one seller's discounted pack with another's starting price before selecting the size and destination.
Check a sample against the job
For a display, place the sample gently on the actual door and check that it rests as intended. Look for rocking, an exposed edge, or grit on the backing. Lift it off when repositioning. If it will also hold paper, try the intended paper separately from the photo magnet's own weight. A magnet that displays itself successfully has not yet answered whether it can support a thicker stack.
Print inspection needs the file you submitted. Compare that file's crop with the finished picture, particularly near a rim or curved boundary. Check whether a small caption is readable from the distance at which you expect to see it. A seller's promotional photograph cannot show how your own low-resolution file or dark scene will print.
For a mailing, measure one complete packed magnet with its separator and envelope. Its rigidity and overall thickness can matter even when the magnet fits inside. Fresh Magnets states that orders are pressed in the USA and usually dispatched within one to three business days. Delivery takes additional time. For another seller, record whether a displayed date means production, dispatch, or arrival at your address, then save the estimate shown for the selected order.
Keep the sample's product name and size beside your notes. If you change the size, backing, or finish before buying the batch, ask whether the sample still represents the order. Record an unresolved detail as unchecked rather than turning it into a claim that the seller does not publish it.
Frequently asked
Does this comparison rank print quality?
No. We have not inspected or measured these products, so there is no print-quality winner or star rating.
Are custom fridge magnets a separate construction?
Custom describes the image or design you supply. The finished product may use a flexible sheet, a pressed shell, or another construction.
Can catalogue prices change before launch?
Yes. Fresh Magnets is currently showing a coming-soon storefront. Confirm the pack, total price, and delivery terms when ordering becomes available.
